Cartoons of the 80’s and 90’s

February 8, 2011

I was watching tv a couple of days ago and ran across the movie ‘Josie and the Pussycats’. While the movie was really bad, it reminded me of the shows I used to watch when I was younger. There were a lot of great cartoons back then. (Yeah, I’m feeling old now.) I figured I’d share with you guys some of my favorites.

Hammerman

This was a very short lived show but I have to say that I really liked it! It had a really great message for kids, unlike some of today’s shows. It was corny, but a lot of fun.

Jem and the Holograms

This was my second favorite show! I was always upset that there weren’t more seasons of this. I used to know all of the songs and would sing them every time I watched the show. I had planned to be just like Jem when I grew up. 🙂

Chip ‘N’ Dale Rescue Rangers

I looooved this show! I always thought that Gadget was so smart and cool. She was an amazing role model for girls. What’s not to like?

Tiny Toon Adventures

This was a great cartoon! Plus it had one of the best theme songs ever. I still have it memorized.

Darkwing Duck

Love this show! Drake Mallard was hilarious and I loved Gosalyn. I’ve always loved superhero shows and this was no exception.

The Magic School Bus

This was a show I had to watch every time it came on. Educational and yet so much fun. I always wanted to have a teacher like Miss Frizzle. 🙂

Sailor Moon

I save the best for last. This has been and probably always will be my favorite cartoon ever. I watched this for years. I would stalk Cartoon Network to be sure I could watch this show every day. I always wanted to be Sailor Mars. lol

What are some of your favorite cartoons from when you were younger or even now? I still watch some of my old favs when they happen to be on tv or on the internet. 😀

Document and Discover 2011

February 2, 2011

Since I’ve started up writing in a journal this year (again), I’ve been looking online for inspiration. Once source of inspiration I’ve found is from Mae Jane on Doc-U-Menting. I love to see her her artwork on her flickr page as well as her photos. Anyway, this year she has started something called ‘Document and Discover”. It’s where you answer monthly journal prompts to help in self-discovery. Since that is something I’ve decided to focus on in this new year, her project is kind of serendipitous. 🙂 Above is my answer to the journal prompt for January. (Sorry for being so late. I decided I’m going to do these at the end of the month if possible. Sort of to let the prompts germinate in my head and to let me think on them. This is the first chance since then I’ve had to post them.

The above is the first page which lists the questions from January’s Prompt:
1. Who do you want to become this year?
2. What do you want to accomplish this year?
3. Where do you want to be/end up in 2011?
4. Why these Goals? Reality check: Understand your desires.
5. How will you get there?

I also save fortunes from fortune cookies. (I know I’m not the only one.) So I taped in the ones that seemed to fit the theme.

“You have only begun to scratch the surface of your real potential.”

And

“It’s up to you to make the next move.”

This next page contains my answers to the questions on the previous page. Mostly this year I’m concentrating on not letting my fear get in the way of my progress and to stop allowing my self to putting everything off.

I’ll be posting these here at the end (or beginning) or each month as I answer them and I’ll also have them up on my flickr page here.

Happy journaling!
