“Twilight” movie

November 30, 2008

I will be the first to admit that I still like to read some teen books and I’m in my mid-twenties. Sue me. I haven’t actually read the “Twilight” books by Stephanie Meyer yet. I’m not sure why really. I’m the first to read vampire books, yet for some reason I never felt the need to read this series. So, when I first heard that the first book was being made into a movie I wasn’t really in a big rush to see it. However, as the time came closer and I kept seeing more previews and everyone else started getting excited I kind of got caught up, I guess. (I’m a bit of a follower, but I can accept that. lol)

So, I went to the movie with my sister today. I’m still processing it, but I really liked it! It started off a bit awkwardly and halfway through the movie I still wasn’t sure if I liked it or not. But by the end I really liked the characters and wanted to watch more. Which is why I immediately went to the bookstore to pick up the books for myself. And then was disappointed when only the first one was still in stock. (That’s what I get for being behind the curve I guess.) So I bought the first one and will probably be done with it by the end of the week, by which time I’m hoping that the rest of the books are available at the bookstore. I can only hope and pray.

As I said, the movie started off a bit awkwardly. Especially the meeting between Bella and Edward. And I do with that the beginning of their relationship was shown in a bit more detail. It was kind of rushed, which I guess is because they had so much to fit into a small amount of time. I do like how it seemed different from other vampire movies, or books as it were. Since I assume that there will be sequels I hope that the future movies will do a better job with their relationship. Overall the movie was very good and left me wanted more, which I suppose was the point. ๐Ÿ˜€

November 14, 2008

1. I know I’m late since we are at the end of the second week of November but always remember that it’s never too late to join in the fun! (Unless it’s already the 30th. lol) Sign up for NaNoWriMo now and start writing your novel! It’s fun and you never know you may become published!

2.I just found this site this week. It’s called Giveaway of the Day. Everyday they give out one free licensed software for an entire day. It’s not just a free trial but the actual complete software version as if you paid for it It’s totally cool and I’ve been checking it everyday for any cool new software I would use.

3. I just saw this article at Apartment Therapy Unplugged. It’s for those of us switching to a new computer even if it’s a new platform. This is a cord that lets you automatically move your important files, music, and internet preferences from one computer to another. Seems like a pretty cool idea. But I’m not sure I’d want to move over everything.

4. This video is of Google’s New York office. It’s so amazing! I would love to work there. Figured I’d share if you hadn’t seen it already. Here’s a link to it: clickie

5. Gala wrote a great article for a magazine about developing your own personal style. It’s just an amazing article that isn’t about what’s in this season, but about how to develop your own style that works for you. She posted it up on her flickr here. Please read, it’s totally awesome. ๐Ÿ˜€

Alarm Playlist?

November 14, 2008

As an early birthday present I received an iPod alarm clock. So now I can wake up to music instead of that annoying buzzer. I’m so happy. ๐Ÿ˜€ But now I need to make a playlist to wake up to. So! I figured that it would to get ideas for my playlist. What do you think would be something good to wake up to? What do you guys use that have one for yourself? I listen to a lot of different types of music, so I would not discriminate against any particular type. You can list specific songs or even just artists.

BTW, for those who would like to know, this is the link to the alarm my brother and sister bought for me. Aren’t they wonderful. Click! Mine is in black.

Gadgets that I reeeeeeaaaaaally want!

November 12, 2008

This is a post of all of the gadgets that I really want, but can’t get right now. I will have them someday, it’s just a matter of time. ๐Ÿ˜€

1. MacBook – I currently own a Dell and while it serves it’s purpose I truly drool for a Mac. It’s pitiful really. Windows has just really been getting on my nerves lately. I really want the black one. My next laptop will certainly be a Mac, no more PC’s for me. ๐Ÿ˜€

2. The NEW iPod nano – I have the third gen iPod, which is fairly new so I can’t really justify myself buying this one anytime soon. But as soon as i run out of space I’m getting the new one! It’s so much cuter! And the colors are gorgeous. Since I’m currently a little over half way into my memory, I figure a few more months I can excuse myself and get a new one. ๐Ÿ˜€

3. Nintendo Wii – I love this console! It’s so much fun and totally cute! ๐Ÿ˜€ And of course I love that it’s cheaper than the PS3.Anyway, I think I may be getting this one pretty soon anyway. Something to match my Nintendo DS. ๐Ÿ˜€

4. Polaroid PoGo – I saw this in the store and I want it! I’m always taking pics but I don’t currently have a photo printer. I like this because I can print pictures from both my camera and my cell phone. I’m not a really formal picture taker so I would like something like this because the pictures are small enough that I could use them for something simple like a collage of pictures or just stick them anywhere. Plus the printer is small so I can take it with me. It’s so cute!

5. Xbox 360 – I really want this console as well. Especially since the price drop! There are some great games on here that I’d love to play. (To hell with exclusive games!lol) Hopefully this holiday season that I’ll be getting my wish. ๐Ÿ˜€

I know this is a short list. I may update or change it in the future, depending on the changes in my life.

The 44th President of the United States…

November 5, 2008

….is Barack Obama. I’m happy beyond belief. We as a country needed a real change and I honestly believe that he can and will bring that to us. I’m so proud of us as a country that this was even possible. And now I’m off to be very smug, politely of course. ๐Ÿ˜€

Election 2008

November 5, 2008

Is everyone else on the edge of their seats like I am? I went out and voted this morning (in line for a record 5 minutes :D) and now Iโ€™m watching as the results come in. Of course this is all projected as of now, but Iโ€™m liking the numbers so far. Iโ€™m really crossing my fingers for Obama. ๐Ÿ˜€ Iโ€™m watching the news and have all the major news sites open watching as the results roll in. Iโ€™m currently also watching Twitter like a fiend. Come join in the Election Twitter fun!
