First Book Down!

May 20, 2010

hundred thousand kingdoms

I’ve finished the first book of many in my numerous reading challenges for this year I’m so excited. It was a book called The Hundred Thousand Kingdoms by the author N. K. Jemisin. It was a really wonderful book that I loved to death. It’s the first in trilogy so I really can’t wait for her to come out with the other books. This is actually the author’s debut novel so I’m very impressed with it. Here is a description of the book from the site Goodreads which I just joined:

Yeine Darr is an outcast from the barbarian north. But when her mother dies under mysterious circumstances, she is summoned to the majestic city of Sky. There, to her shock, Yeine is named an heiress to the king. But the throne of the Hundred Thousand Kingdoms is not easily won, and Yeine is thrust into a vicious power struggle with a pair of cousins she never knew she had. As she fights for her life, she draws ever closer to the secrets of her mother’s death and her family’s bloody history.

With the fate of the world hanging in the balance, Yeine will learn how perilous it can be when love and hate – and gods and mortals – are bound inseparably together.

Anyway, I completely recommend it to anyone who likes to read fantasy like I do. The story will completely suck you in. Also, I’ll list my books as I read them on the Book Challenges page. And for some if not all of them I’ll leave a link to the review I write on Goodreads. If you want to see the review I left for this one just click on the link on that page. See you later!
