Summer is coming! And with it comes something that we all love and look forward to every year. Do you know what that is?

Summer movies! Yes! Those summer releases that start getting advertised all the way back in November. Those movies that everyone makes a big deal about being so awesome. That is what I’m talking about. This post will be about all of the movies that I’m looking forward to seeing this summer. In fact, one of them will be starting very, very soon.

Fast Five is the lastest installment in ‘The Fast and the Furious’ series. This movie takes place chronologically after the previous movie ‘Fast and Furious’ but before ‘Tokyo Drift’. I have to say that I’ve looking forward to this movie ever since the last one came out. 🙂 I’ve loved this entire series from the very beginning. I can’t get enough of Paul Walker and Vin Diesel. Plus the movies brings in the best characters from previous moves. (God I love Han!) This one releases on April 29th (tomorrow) and I’m definitely up to seeing this. Even if I have to see it by myself (my sister is officially a traitor.)

Priest is a new vampire movie about a priest that breaks his vows in order to rescue his niece from the vampires that kidnapped her. It looks like an awesome movie with all of the elements that I love. Vampires, a corrupt religious sect, action, horror, Paul Bettany, and Cam Gigandet. What more do you need really? 😉 This releases on May 13th.

Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides is the newest ‘Pirates’ movie with the ever hot Johnny Depp starring in it, of course. I’ve been waiting for this release ever since the mere rumors of another movie coming out were being talked about online. In this movie Jack Sparrow is searching for the Fountain of Youth, with all of the requisite danger in the way of course. Geoffrey Rush returns along with some new faces such as Penelope Cruz and Ian McShane. This should be a good one! It releases on May 20th.

Green Lantern is another super hero movie that is coming out this summer. I’m a bit of a geek but I love superheroes. I watch ‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles’ and ‘X-Men’ when I was little. I also love Batman and Spiderman and everything the comic world can give me. That being said, I’m all over this movie. Plus, Ryan Reynolds is in it, which is just makes this a no brainer in my opinion. This one comes out on June 17th.

This concludes ‘Part 1’ of this summer movie post. There will be one more to follow with the rest of the movies I’m looking forward to seeing this summer.

Top Ten Tuesday Rewind:

April 19, 2011

‘Top Ten Tuesday’ is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish.
This week’s theme is ‘Top Ten Tuesday Rewind’.
Which means I go back into the archives and chose any past theme that I want.
For this week I choose #1) Childhood Favorites.

1. The Boxcar Children by Gertrude Chandler Warren – I absolutely adored this series as a child. I loved watching these siblings take care of each other after they lost their parents and then finding their grandfather. Plus they had all of these great adventures and solved so many mysteries together.

2. Little Women by Louisa May Alcott – I bought a copy of this at a bookfair when I was younger just because I liked the cover. I fell in love with this book. I still have it, even though it’s falling apart now and I had to buy a new copy. While I loved all of the sisters and Marmee, I most related to Jo. She was so strong and independent and I wanted to be just like her.

3. The Baby Sitter’s Club by Ann M. Martin – I wanted to be in this club! (I conveniently forgot at the time that I wasn’t that fond of smaller kids.) But I wanted that fun that they seemed to have and it was such a diverse group of friends. I always loved Claudia the best I think.

4. Charlotte’s Web by E. B. White – I still cry whenever I watch this movie or read this book. It was a great story about friendship and love. Charlotte was so sweet and lovely, and Wilbur was just too sweet and innocent for words.

5. Caddie Woodlawn by Carol Ryrie Brink – I also found this one at a book fair. I think I was on a frontier kick at the time because I also got ‘Little House on the Prairie’ but this one was so amazing to me. Caddie was just this strong character living out on the frontier and having so much fun! I really need to find my old copy of this book.

6. Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass by Lewis Carrol – This has to be towards the top of my favorite books ever, not just among children’s books. Alice was this great creative character that could play alone and still have great adventures. I loved pretty much all of the crazy characters in the books. This was beyond memorable.

7. Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of NIMH by Robert C. O’Brien – I can’t remember whether I saw the movie first or read the book. But I loved both regardless. This book had so much love in it. And it was unusual because of the fact that the main character is an adult. But a great book nonetheless.

8. The Enchanted Forest Chronicles by Patricia C. Wrede – I loooooved this series. This is about an unconventional princess that does not want to be saved. In fact, instead of being abducted by a dragon she actually ran away herself and then decided to live with a dragon voluntarily. She agrees to cook and clean for a dragon provided that dragon doesn’t let any of the ‘heroes’ sent after her to make her leave. It was funny and lovely and just amazing.

9. Time Windows by Kathryn Reiss – This book was very unique to me at the time I read it. In fact I started to look into the windows of my own dollhouse to see if I could look back in time as well. It was my first foray into the paranormal, which is a genre I love to this day.

10. Harry Potter Series by J. K. Rowling – And of course I could not leave out Harry Potter. This is probably the very top of my list. It has everything you could hope for. Magic, dragons, werewolves, romance, a magic school, giants, talking snakes, and adventure. All rolled into one series. I loved everything about this series, except the fact that it’s over.
